a year of traveling

it's been about a year since i posted... and i just been having the time of my life traveling and getting my body back from baby numero dos.

I know that I am one lucky girl, being able to be a stay at home mom and to have free travel! and this past year i definately took advantage of it, especially since in a year abby will be in school and i won't be able to take her out on a whim (so i'll probaboly invest in a gym membership to keep my sanity!) and someday we'll own a home and have more responsibilities to keep us from traveling potentially. this past year i went to : dallas X 5, houston , Austin, Atlanta, Salt Lake City X4, Washington D.C., Washington, Honolulu, Orlando, and 2 bahama islands. I love traveling. I think it's part of the fact that i'm an extrovert. Surprisingly we were grounded in Indianapolis for 4 months during the winter. ( not what i was expecting, with my seasonal depression). But it was great because aside from the snow in january, i love indiana! We would be happy to live here forever. having family close would be awesome, but free travel is the next best thing-- and my kids are getting good at it, if that is even possible. We know we're home, sweet home when we leave the Indianapolis airport to its mesmerizing light-following walk way feature

Spring is in full bloom! and Indianapolis is GORGEOUS! and i could be outside all day! (if only i had a car or lived in a better neighborhood). Today 4 kids in our apartment complex schooled me in a race... does that mean i'm out of shape?? seriously. Unfortunately we all have colds, which im actually ok with since last may the worst 3 days of my life were when luke had rsv in the hospital for 3 days (longest i've stayed awake in my life and sickest either of my children have ever been)... so colds are ok! Specifically i'm especially loving all the red winged black birds here
as well as the FLOWERS!!
even though i live "inner city" I still feel not too crowded (maybe its the huge yards vs the tiny texas ones i'm used to) Happy weather everyone!!

Catch me if you can in June...

memorial day weekend we found out that Tyson would have 6 days off in a row so a few hours later we jumped on a plane to Utah! We had a blast!
Abby playing with toys at kait's soccer game.
Abby loves to garden with Grammy!
Fishing on memorial day at a fish farm in Ogden. it was awesome! and we ate the fish for dinner, and abby loved it!

Then when I was scheduling my flight home I decided to stop for a week in texas. I taught myself to paint my nails zebra style!
My mom and I took Abby to the splash park!
Back in Indiana we went and picked strawberries at Spencer Farms

these are a few from a splash park in Carmel.

And the ones below are from PBS kids in the park in Indianapolis.

Abby is scared of all costumes... so I had to take the picture with super grover!!

More to come! HAPPY SUMMER :)

our top however many...

A LOT happened in 2012 for us!
-Tyson was completely unemployed for 6 months. this sucked, but gave me perspective. I will be less judgemental for the rest of my life.
-Tyson got a commercial pilots licence!
-Tyson worked for an insurance company "selling" (but not really) medicare policies to people. It was temporary and he was let go 3 days after Christmas.
-I found out I was pregnant in the begining of Feburary. I got a perscription at my first apointment when I was 7 weeks, and was able to keep the sickness under control mostly! I was hospitalized 3 times and supposed to be hospitalized 5 times but opted out twice. I was on bed rest for 6 weeks. Luke came 3 weeks early and weighed 9lb 6oz on september 29th. Although there was tribulation we are so grateful for our lovely and healthy Luke, and that we are able to get pregnant very easily when we know so many couples and I'm sure many we don't know of that are struggling with fertility.
-I quit my minimum wage job at kohls woohoo!
-I tried out child care full time and did not like it. It was stupid on my part to think I could work 50 hours a week when Luke was 4 days old.
-We went on a vacation to Bear Lake for a week in July and made some amazing memories, compliments of Tyson's grandma and grandpa Johnson!
-I worked the finances and was able to help Tyson to get a 5 weeks program done to recieve full licences to be a Flight Dispatcher. last week he passed and finished all of his license tests! I'm so proud of him! He will be taking the next Dispatcher job offered to him. If you know of any openings email them to him, but only if you want us to live near you lol. :)
-Abby became a big sister and she is an amazing one. she is ALWAYS willing to help make luke happy when he is crying and is always loving towards him. this really brings tears to my eyes sometimes. (especially after hearing horror stories from other parents about the trouble of new sibblings).
-We helped my parents update their house a lot, including painting half of it (including ceilings and base boards and crown moldings) and helping arrange for the other half to be professionally done, switching every single outlet and light switch and plates etc. from faded dream yellow to WHITE. installing new light fixtures and remodeling a bathroom.
-swimming many hours in my parents' community pool.
-start working as my mom's assistant to help with the elderly woman that lives with them.
-I got a calling to be a permenant teacher for the CTR 5 class at church
-Tyson got a calling to be the financial clerk
-We became an aunt and uncle to our first nephew Gavin
- it snowed in texas on christmas day, just for tyson and me :)
Well I'm sure a whole lot more happened but right now those seem like the highlights!!! mostly I'm so grateful to have first world country problems and to have such a wonderful family. I hope 2013 brings awesome things!

i woke up at 4 this morning literally punching the mattress. good thing i was alone. i could have killed someone. what was i dreaming, you might ask? that someone was taking my sweet abby's blankies, so i was beating them up. don't mess with my daughter, you never know what kind of mood her pregnant mother is in.

I laugh at my life...

It is exactly midnight and this conversation just happened:

Tyson: let's go do something irresponsible...
Me: Like what?... like get a chocolate doughnut?
(can you tell I'm pregnant)
T: ya, like get a chocolate doughnut.
M: OK. i think duncan doughnuts is open all night and they're close.
T: OK.
M: but i think i'm rather in the mood for a large meal... maybe wendys. ya that would be irresponsible. we could leave abby in bed and not wake cara (who's sleeping in her room) and just go right now.
T: YA!
M: k after you finish that game of halo.
T: ..... oh....... i do want to, but i don't want to...
M: why not?
T: because the garage door would wake abby up?
M: (so sad) OOOooh! oh man...I guess we'll have to plan ahead next time for our irresponsibility and park in the front of the house....

haha o the crazy schemes of a married couple.... we party hard.

Sweet tooth fairy cupcake cafe

Unfortunately for me my pregnancy has me craving foods that are not only out of my reach monitarily but also physically.... they all reside in the state of UTAH...boo.
Luckily for me they are opening a sweet tooth fairy here... i'm just not sure when, hopefully soon... because i'm pretty sure that for the first two hours i was in bed last night were spent thinking about the cupcake with the strawberry on top..... i die.
I did have a good birthday this week by the way, and i hope tyson has a good one next week and that abby has a good one in may.... we're always busy busy busy.

just one of those weeks

well i guess i still haven't blogged about our trip to atlanta or new orleans.... so if you really care about stocking us you'll just have to get on facebook. for those of you who refuse to get a facebook, i'm pregnant due october 16th. we're hoping it's a boy and that's what the doctor said she'd put her money on but it's still too early to know. i should find out in 7 weeks ish, but the way things are going i might now sooner because i'm 12 weeks and have had 4 ultrasounds. did i mention i already have and outie belly button- this is definately not my first pregnancy, i'm pretty sure its a hernia i will have to get fixed when we're done with the babies.joy.

warning: contains some yucky information... if you wish to not be scared of parenting or pregnancy do not read. it's a bit gory.

so this week has been bitter sweet because we've had the best case scenario of the worst case scenario of everything.

monday i'm not feeling great and i call the doctor and they say i need to come in, for fear of bowel impaction or obstruction or toxicity, a side effect sometimes of the medicine i take to not barf 8 times a day, zofran/ondansatron. (did i mention to avoid this side effect i've been eating supper healthy lots of fiber and water, no foods high in fat, sugar, dairy, processed or fast food for the past month, at least as much as i could do with out telling the world i'm pregnant and constipated.) so i go in and the nurse practitioner can't find a heartbeat for like 5 minutes. boo. so we go in to do a ultra sound and immediately the babies legs are wide open and it looks like a boy, at 11 weeks and 6 days. so we'll see but that made me happy, and then the baby proceded to do like 20 flips and push move kick, everything, it took her like 4 minutes of really trying to get the heart beat because the baby was acting so crazy, it was awesome (but i'm also dreading this kids terrible twos already- so active, and it's been like that for all 4 ultrasounds). the heart beat was a perfect rate, but she said my bowels looked supper obstructed and were off placing my uterus, so she would call me in the next hour to let me know if i needed to go to the hospital...joy. i didn't have to go but i had to go on a prune juice diet, among other much worse things (enima-ew). honesly a million times less horrible than what i read about on the internet. story over. things got better and i still have to take a stool softener (which i had to take my whole last pregnancy) and eat right etc. but i think that story is over.

tuesday our car broke down. no surprise. unfortunatelly it was the day tyson's parents came and they were staying with his sister so we were not allowed to see them their first day visiting, did we mention we bought pizza for the whole family, papa murphys--no worries because we'll just eat it tomorrow rght? haha. so we were halfway to tysons sisters about 15 minutes from the house and it dies in a gated community with NO WHERE to park. grr. a nice man and a police officer helped us push our car to a turn lane where we waited for 2 hours for my dad to come get the car with his truck. like 4 people stopped to jump us and no one could, tyson cleaned the battery and worked on a few things, abby was supper mad because we had neglected her to clean our house all day with the promise that she would get to play at aunt jojos and see her long lost grandma that evening, neither of which she got to do. and it was too mudy to walk around the neighborhood from the tornados and hail recieved that day. luckily my dad comes and does exactly what tyson's been doing for 2 hours and it starts right up, so we're glad we didn't have to tow it, but mad. so we drive it to the car place and it ends up being only 45 buck the next day to replace the wires that connect the battery to the rest of the car, it still dies but now it restarts. we were going to get a new car with our tax return but now tyson needs that money to go back to school AGAIN, because the two jobs he got after he finished fell through and there's no other way to continue on this path. just a one month program this time. to get to be a flight teacher CFI.

wednesday our oven breaks. how do we know, from our ruined pizza. burnt on top dough on bottom, boo. did i mention everyone came over to our house and was very hungry because we had just gone to the dallas aquarium, no one will ever want to come over again. luckily it was just a coil and my mom had it fixed by friday.
i had to follow up with my doctor and everything seems fine, and my stomach was soft again, which is a good sign-no rocks. yay.
abby had a fever for 4 days and then it got way bad, after lunch it was over 103 and she was throwing up, so we gave her a cold bath and took her to the emergency room. they gave her the max dose of motrin and that helped but the fever would not go below 100.5. then we waited for like 2 hours and she was seen and got chest x rays and they wanted a pee sample and said since she wasn't potty trained they'd have to do a catheder, boo. but i at least tried to have her pee in a cup and thankfully she did!! (yes it was messy). i guess that's a sign we should start the potty training, oh boy. verdict, she had a really bad UTI. poor baby. so they gave us a rx for an antibiotic (which she has basically been throwing up or spitting out about half of each dose (like that doesn't worry me) so she mostly on an all cranberry juice diet (plus food) (not really her fave, so we've been mixing drinks). her fever still lasted 3 more days. but now she's doing a lot better... and hopefully it doesn't come back when we're done with the antibiotic.

thursday was mostly normal. we had fun at the stockyards but of course right when we get there and walk for like 5 minutes i have a little bit of pink discharge so i know i need to take it easy, not walk a lot and not push the stroller, so i spent most of the time sitting on a bench as much as i could, and i called and asked my doctor if i needed a rhogam shot because of my rh factor, and they say they'll call me and let me know and they never do... i honestly love my doctor but i think the issue is the receptionist not telling the doctor when people call, i give her a piece of my mind next time im there. so we went swimming and celebrated tyson's moms birthday.

Friday i probably did way too much walking but we went to the mall and i was so excited because jordan and i were getting some maternitty clothes and tyson's mom was getting me birthday presents, oh ya i turn 23 soon, weird. did i mention my sister in law who lives 30 minutes away is due 3 weeks after me, we hope we both have boys!

saturday we did a little more shopping while the boys golfed (and tyson got a bad burn because he didn't take the sunscreen i put by the door)and i was feeling a little exhausted. after lunch we were at home debating going swimming and abby had just found all her easter eggs with way too much candy (which i had been using to bribe her to take her antibiotic) and i thought i peed my pants, i was like "dang it" (abby's new favorite phrase, hmm). so i go in to the bathroom and gratefully i havent lost controll of my bladder, it was ONLY a huge gush of BLOOD! enough to fill 2 pads. i start freaking. i'm 12 weeks and 4 days. not normal so i call my doctor emergnecy line for a different doctor on call and she calls me back 20 minutes later and says i need to go to the emergency room and get a rhogam and a pevic exam and a sonogram. so i get a blessing and we head to the hospital. they get me in a room in about 5 minutes and they preform about a million tests, i was relieved to see the baby moving a lot. i did not enjoy the iv and pelvic testing, he was obviously not an obgyn, grr. after about two hours they told me part of my placenta broke loose from my uterus wall, and apparently it shouldn't risk anything- (doubt it), weird. so then we have to wait till 1130 pm for the rhogam because it's not something they have at the pharmacy, they have to use my blood to make it so we wathched like 6 episodes of psych, got my rhogam and left, but of course i'm like on bed rest and can't lift abby.

did i mention tyson's phone is broken for good, and our trusty xbox dead..... just one of those weeks....

a late christmas in texas

christmas with the coltons was definately too short, but a lot of fun!

over christmas

we managed to get tyson 8 days off school over christmas break, so we went to utah, of course! it was a blast. tyson's mom was just starting to feel much better since her brain surgury, so it was good timing. we had a lot of fun watching movies, hanging out, and shopping. we were spoiled for christmas, especially abby.... i don't know what to do with all her toys! it was a ton of fun, and of course the Palmer christmas party was a blast as per usual.

Abby really loves grandma Kasi, and grandma really loves spoiling abby!
consider this your christmas card.... the only pic with the three of us...
